Hoping for change

Today Australia votes for who it wishes to govern the nation. The Liberal / National coalition has governed several terms now and steered us through a difficult few years with the pandemic, however, I feel is looking tired.

Though I more commonly vote for the Liberal party I wouldn’t say I’m aligned to them. I work in higher education and have done for quite a while, however, this government hasn’t shown itself to be a friend to higher education with successive ministers acting very bullish towards the sector. Indeed, during the pandemic the minister very much turned a blind eye which saw a large number of valuable people lost from it.

Though you can never guarantee promises from an opposition party seeking election will pan out, they have made such commitments to support which is heartening to say the least.

It is time for a change, I don’t believe any government should stay in power for too long as they become complacent and stale. We’re just hours away from seeing whether Australians agreed with me or decided “same old” is good enough.
