I used to love pizza, growing up a Hawaiian pizza was always a favourite go to fast food item. Then, two years ago this September I overnight became lactose intolerant, suddenly all those dairy-based items I’d consumed on a daily basis became a definite no go zone, including pizza.
It has taken so long for me to reach a point with the diet where things settled down as I ultimately was diagnosed too with IBS, not fun let’s just say.
Tonight I decided to try pizza once more, however, I wanted to substitute dairy-based cheese for vegan alternates. Thankfully, one pizzeria I’d visited a few times a years ago offered me this option, and their pizzas are deliciously creative too for those I might consider.
I ended up ordering their fire breather, a slightly spicy (as others might consider it) pizza with the vegan cheese option. The cheese was definitely runnier than a mozzarella equivalent, though was every bit as tasty. Half saved for tomorrow night. Nice to have an option for those days when I seek a treat.
