It seems the streaming darling of ole, Netflix, is facing a bit too much competition of late and is starting to lose subscribers. That, and apparently people sharing their accounts with friends and family is impacting revenue growth resulting in a large hit to their share price.
There had already been suggestion that Netflix was trialling means to deal with sharing of accounts with South American subscribers before rolling out more widely. Now, with revenue stagnant, there’s a proposal to include ads within content we’re paying for.
I don’t know about you, but I object to paying for streaming services, cost of which they’ve raised recently, and now want to insert ads into my viewing. If I want ads I watch commercial free to air television, not something I’m paying for. Honestly, if they go this route I’ll either reconsider my account or drop to the lowest cost offered by the service. I find more and more they aren’t offering as much I want to watch now, maybe having moved to other services?
