Selling up

When I bought the MacBook Pro M1 back in June 2021 I held out in hopes Apple might announce the M1 Pro that didn’t come till months later. Sadly, I had a late-2016 MacBook Pro on life support, battery just not working, and I needed a new machine, waiting wasn’t an option. So, a temporary purchase the M1 was always going to be, it’s external connectivity just too limited for me.

The M1 Pro announced I was on it like Donkey Kong as the saying goes, it was the machine I had hoped for months ago, thus I was now needing to sell the M1. I had just sold the Mac Mini via eBay, an experience I would not liken to being positive with the company, but a search for alternatives just didn’t yield positive options, or ones I was familiar with.

When selling the Mac Mini in October, the sale went fine, the buyer paid relatively quickly, and I expected I’d just get paid. No. It seems eBay has other ideas about when they deem you deserve to be given funds. A chat with support first indicated I had to send and provide tracking showing I’d sent the device, then funds would be released, a lie, they didn’t release until it arrived plus one day.

I wasn’t happy with the eventual auction price received for the Mini, so for the M1 decided I’d go a fixed price and allow offers to control things. I quickly received an offer of full price within an hour or so, and request for invoice which I assumed to mean postage cost. Quickly, eBay shut down the transaction and deleted my listing citing buyer account misuse. At that point I’d had enough with eBay and decided I am not going to relist with the service, have had enough.

I’m now trying Facebook marketplace, something I am not familiar with. Certainly quieter. May look too at Amazon, not sure what requirements are there.
