Cyber Week that was

Little did I know when planning long service leave periods last year that this week was going to end up being used to not only commence my latest unit in Digital Forensics, but I’d also be attending my first cyber security conference, Cyber Week 2021.

The first four days were assigned to the conference, again predominantly virtual due to the joys of COVID-19 and uncertainty it currently affords. I attended as many events as I could, this meant often getting up rather early here in Perth as events were scheduled at start of day for our eastern states, one morning getting up at 4:45am for a 5am start; so glad the Zoom presentations don’t see me as I didn’t get out of bed for that one!

Yesterday, I attended a training session on open source intelligence, was quite an eye opener as to how much you could gather. The presenter clearly has to go at some speed to keep to time, but was a great taster and certainly wet this student’s appetite for the area.

Had been an exhausting week between studies and conference week, but enjoyable and now coffee is required.
