On the Surface

On Monday, I had my arm injected with cortisone which had been injured at the end of June with bursitis and rotator cuff after a misjudging with step I was on. So far, the injection hasn’t led to any improvement at all, in fact the arm is worse if you can believe it, it’s now uncomfortable for me to work at a desk and use my computers.

To that end, I decided to get a Microsoft Surface Pro 7 today as the unit in studying in my Master of Security doesn’t work on my MacBook Pro M1 as it isn’t Intel, and my Mac mini being a desktop is causing me to much pain to sit at. I can sit on the couch, or in bed, and work more comfortably with my arms at a lower level.

Not having used a Surface before I’d never experienced Cortana, I see why it’s going away in Windows 11, rather annoying. One thing I am impressed with is the facial recognition sign-on, nice and quick; I would love to know from a Cyber perspective how secure it is i.e. identical twins.

Though I’ve not yet played with it, I have also bought myself the pen, so look forward to testing out the writing recognition, and whether Windows 11 makes strides here as I assume it will. The snap-on keyboard is particularly cool, I like the fact you can have it flat or elevate for extra comfort.

I’m still adjusting to the opening of the back flap to keep it upright; a good functional design. It’s not the fastest machine for the spend, however the Mac continues to be my main machine here, thus only development. I like the red though, nice to have a splash of colour, in this case it adds a little to its speed 😉
