Smart comfort

I sat at work this morning performing business as usual tasks when suddenly I had a thought “Did you turn off the electric blanket before leaving home?”

I had only just put my electric blanket back on my bed days earlier, so was concerned I’d forget to turn it off in the mad rush to get ready for work. I decided to head home at lunchtime and check, just for comforts sakes. Thankfully I live close to home, so I returned home only to find I had indeed turned it off. A comfort for sure, though annoying as I had just thrown my lunch break for no reason.

Given this, I decided I would invest in an Apple HomeKit-compatible smart plug that would allow me not only the ability to easily turn on/of the plug, but also to do so from anywhere without the need to drive home to do so. As luck would have it, Harvey Norman had a sale on smart plugs from Cygnett, just $20.

Installation could not have been any easier, plug in, download an app and register, quick connect then use the Home app to add to the list of devices. I love that I can not be sitting at my desk at night, decided I’ll be almost ready for bed and turn the hot blanket on; no more cold bed for me!
