I last undertook studies back in the late 90’s when completing my Bachelor’s in Computer Science, since then just doing the odd micro course, but nothing truly formal of such magnitude. I’d never truly known what I wanted to do after graduating, which direction to take now I was working in web, for I knew this was not going to endure long term.
Which direction should I take? I had an interest in cyber security, though was just computer security back in the degree days, and then only a single unit. Fast forward 23 years and I’m again studying in computing, undertaking a Master of Cyber Security that is run in accelerated mode and entirely online.
Being an online student takes some getting used to, your unit is far more fragmented than the traditional unit where you had a lecture then a tutorial. Now, all is run via Blackboard, lectures are videos cut up and interspersed with exercises, ‘lab work’ and repeat. It requires being more disciplined to keep up the pace, but is quite enjoyable.
So far, I’ve not managed to make it to bed once before 10pm. I’m hoping I managed to improve speed and can change that asas am dog tired the past week. Find I get home from work and resting for the first hour rather than studying just to get a break.
First assessment due in two days. Yikes.
