I’d love to blame COVID for my not going to the gym, however it reopened back in June or July I think, I’ve been once in all that time. They’re seriously not my thing, I kept hoping if I paid my fortnightly fee it might inspire my sorry arse to go, I rarely did but for the first few months after signing up.
Then interest waned, excuses increased, or I’d get sick and that too would interfere with my ability to attend. In truth though, I simply preferred walking distance along our beautiful coastline early in the morning, sometimes doing 15km before work each day in winter.
Recently, Apple announced Apple One, a bundle product with three tiers, the premier tier including things like News+ and a new service that is scheduled to launch in just a few days time, Fitness+. I’ve been toying with the idea of canceling the gym membership in favour of this tier, most especially given I could exercise at home with my Masters degree studies commencing next year; a healthy distraction. An added benefit for me will be I’ll actually be saving about $40/month over what I pay on unused gym fees after factoring in additional subscription fees with Apple, win-win!
To also help inspire, I’ve ordered an exercise bike, I can sit at home whilst reading unit readings next year and pedal away. Got a great deal at an auction house, half price for a sweet bike, not too sure when it arrives, though they did say they ship quickly.
Now, to cancel that gym membership.
