I’ll admit I’d go about my days hardly paying too much attention to allergies or food intolerance unless they affected my friends, and even then I guess only having a basic understanding of. When it doesn’t affect you it’s difficult to truly grasp, right?
It has amazed me just how quickly my body has gone from being okay with consumption of cows milk, and being able to eat almonds, to both being off limits now. Were the changes so subtle I just wasn’t noticing their occurring? Or did they just happen that quickly? I do recall one of the HR staff members at work taking years ago of walking one day and her suddenly being unable to eat gluten-based products.
Last night I discovered a useful product at the chemist that would allow me to consume milk where I needed to, called Lacteeze it comes in varying strengths and is chewed before you have dairy products. I tried before having an Oreo McFlurry last night, for research purposes only, and a single tablet was only just passable for me. I think I’d need two tablets or need to purchase their ultra level product. That said, it is great there are such tablets that open up options where otherwise there would be none.
Having this now I’m quickly discovering which products contain milk and that it doesn’t matter that I’m not drinking the milk, if there’s milk on the label I will be affected. Extra attention to labels will now be paid. 👀
