I’m not sure I’m lactose intolerant, however drinking milk, including lactose free varieties, seems to make me feel mildly ill these days, especially in the past 6-8 weeks.
A few years ago, my supervisor swapped to unsweetened almond milk to help reduce overall calories due to the number of coffees he’d drink in a day; eventually he’s swapped milk out altogether. I figure with the queasiness I’d investigate for myself.
Right off the bat the first thing you notice is the huge price difference, an extra $3/litre would be an incentive to reduce your coffee intake. The taste is immediately evident, and frankly not that nice, as I mentioned in my Twitter post earlier today perhaps it might be something I’d adjust to as I once did when removing all sugars from coffee years ago.
Compared to the lactose free milk coffees I usually drink, the almond milk equivalent didn’t give me that queasy feeling, which is a definite win.
