How did I miss the news that Shortcuts got beefed up? I decided to fire up my favourite little iOS tool (and still hoping Apple ports to macOS ASAP!), and before my now wide blue eyes was something entirely new, Automation. Say what? This geek just died and went to heaven.
Not only does Apple allow you to tie into its home automation, which I don’t own (somehow), but also you can get your iOS/iPadOS devices to perform one or more tasks when something occurs as a triggering condition.

One thing that has always ticked me off about the iPad design is the lack of volume mute button, it only exists in virtual form. I’ll be laying in bed when Calvin Klein emails me urgently to advise they’ve 40% off, at 10pm at night no less when I’m settling for the evening. First automation, when connected to power, set volume to 0%, and back to 50% once disconnected; fantastic, hey!
For my iPhone, I’ve set my favourite trance podcast, Pure Trance Radio by Solarstone to play automatically when I leave home and work. I’m sure by end of year I’ll have figured some way to get this to do my job and attend Teams meetings for me haha 😆 if only.
