Apple, we need to talk. Typically, you’re the master of invention, or come later to the party and just do things better. However, your lock screen, it just needs some work.
Case in point, the force touch buttons used to access the flash or camera. Whilst these buttons may be useful, they’re actually poorly designed as they’re just too easily activated. I have lost count the number of times now the flash has activated whilst in my pocket, only realising as my leg started to feel slightly warm suddenly. Similarly, though less often, the camera activating and slowly draining my battery.
How might Apple improve the situation?
- Option 1: Allow users the ability to disable these buttons within settings
- Option 2: Buttons remain, however these are no longer force touch but rather slide to activate.
I think it would be also be great to be able to customise the function of these buttons within settings to open other key apps we want to quickly access.
