Planning to the nth

Having determined I might study a Masters of Cyber Security I set to task the evening to determine whether I might be able to undertake this study as planned, taking several days long service leave each week to dedicate to study.

My plan initially has been that I might have Thursdays and Fridays over the two year degree on LSL to maximise my study time. Quickly I discovered I was running out of that hefty leave balance I was sitting on, how was this possible; seems my initial calculations I’d divided by 7 days instead of 5 working days, drat and triple drat!

I could still undertake the degree, however for most of the program is only be able to have one day off, having two days a week once I reached the three capstone project units at the end of the degree.

I’ve never been terribly fussed throughout my working life planning far in advance for and annual leave, however tonight I found myself planning as far forward as early-2023 when I might work in any annual leave given there is only one week between each unit ending and the next commencing, planning leave becomes paramount to ensure you have much needed time off to relax and recharge.

Next step, discuss with work my plans and ensure that taking of long service leave doesn’t interfere with my annual leave balance any.
