This week I’ve started working from home full-time due to Covid-19, primarily to minimise my chances of exposure within the workplace should it occur.
We were quite fortunate last year when our workplace made the decision to move to Microsoft Teams for telephony, little did they know then how smart a decision that would end up being. Now, with a number of us working at home, we can still be called at the same number we’ve always had yet the call comes via the app on our computer, our phone or tablet devices, flexibility at its best.
Yesterday, our director held for the first time the office stand-up meeting within teams, half were in the office and half at home, and all went quite smoothly for our first run. Today, my supervisor and I caught up via video call, it giving a pseudo feeling of sitting adjacent to him as I do day-to-day when on-campus.
I fired up a Dj podcast today to help reduce to quiet, thank you Markus Schulz for the 4-hour stream! The only other challenge I am facing in my new environment is my chair, or rather Jodie’s if I’m precise, it’s not that comfortable for a workday. I’m now looking to get a better chair before the Prime Minister closes Officeworks too.
