The Witcher impresses

I’d not heard of The Witcher when it was announced Henry Cavill would star as Geralt of Rivia, however when such a big name star signs on to do a project you’ve got to wonder why. When Netflix released the first teaser trailer it was immediately apparent this was something I would look forward to watching, the subsequent and longer trailer made you long for its arrival more.

The Witcher dropped here in Perth at 4pm yesterday, such a pity I just happened to be on annual leave, don’t you agree. I watched the first four episodes yesterday and they did not disappoint, plenty of action, also some quirkiness in the bard’s singing, and magic that didn’t disappoint.

The first season is way too short at only 8 episodes, thankfully a second season was announced a month before the first was released. Season one follows Geralt’s destiny in connecting with mage Yennefer and young Princess Renfri. Whilst his role would see him kill all manner of beast, he’s inclined towards not killing, unless there’s coin.

Be prepared of much killing, a good dash of magic, some humour, and women, a good helping of Henry Cavill sans shirt. I do hope the second season won’t be two years away, that’d be cruel. Great first season. Do indulge/binge!
