Star Wars: Rise of Skywalker

And so Star Wars concludes, again, for the second or is it the third time? Firstly, it finished with the original trilogy and what is now episode VI: A New Hope and those cute little Ewoks. But then it didn’t, Lucas came back, added three episodes prior to the originals; we’re still yet to recover from Jar Jar Binks. Then, Disney bought the rights to the franchise and a new trilogy (and others) were announced.

I headed off to the cinema yesterday, opening day here in Australia, and yes there was someone in a storm trooper outfit at my suburban cinema, I was both shocked and impressed to see their dedication; I am neither that fan nor prepared to hunt for such a costume lol.

I was interested to see how they’d handle the loss of Carrie Fisher and yet still intend to feature her in this movie without resorting to a CGI version of her. As result of her passing, there really isn’t a great deal we see of her in the movie, however she does still play an important role, which is nice. Still, was sad she wasn’t able to perform in the final movie, I wonder what it would have looked like as it was apparently meant to be the Leia-centred movie.

The return of the Emperor is interesting, it adds interest as he was always such an interesting character in the original trilogy. Again, he plays an important role in the final story and I quite enjoyed his brand of evil.

Though this perhaps wasn’t the original intended story due to Carrie’s passing, I quite enjoyed where they went with it.
