Planning travel

When travelling do you plan things or do you mostly just wing it? I’m a planner but live with someone who typically will only plan where she’s staying the first few days then afterwards it’s flexible.

For me, depending on my trip I may end up planning the holiday week in advance researching venues and accommodations, then how I can organise each day when in each location to maximise what u might be able to see. Needless to say I rarely end up seeing all I plan to see, though I give it a red hot go.

Google maps is such a godsend here, allowing this slightly OCD person to plan how he’s going to get from venue to venue, day to day. Once I have decided everything and start booking everything, one of my favourite tools has to be TripCase.

TripCase allows tracking of your flights, entry of your accommodation and any events you will undertake, along with any relevant notes. If your flights experience changes, you can receive notifications of these changes and where the gate may have moved to. This is one of the best tools in your travel arsenal.

Tip: I learned this as result of a friend failing to book accommodation in Barcelona, arriving on a public holiday and almost having to sleep in the street. Check public and school holidays where you’re travelling, accommodation may be in short supply quickly if you like to wing it.
