April 2017 was a particularly difficult time in my life, I awoke early one morning to the news my little brother had taken his life the night prior. For the next month I continued to battle emotions alone before finally seeking help. During those first few weeks I turned to the Calm app and meditation to help deal with growing levels of anxiety.
Since then I have continued, on and off, to explore meditation as a means of helping calm general anxiety and depression. I always found the Daily Calm arrived just as I needed it most. I took a break until recently when an email mentioned a ‘Learn how to meditate’ series with Jeff Warren was going to be offered. Intrigued, I reconnected and have found his style rather soothing and enjoyable to listen to. Admittedly, twice now I’ve fallen asleep listening to him as I’d listened after work and must’ve been exhausted.
Jeff’s learning to meditate series is a 30 day introductory program and is really quite good. I’m only part-way in, I’ll be looking to read his books afterwards. Check him out.
