Ready to recharge

My end of work year fast approaches, with Friday this week the beginning of just over four weeks away from the office, the longest since starting nearly 22 years ago.

Determined not to sit around the house I hit travel booking sites for ideas on short escapes. Initially I was looking at a return to personal favourite Canada, even considering going a little later for my first ever white Christmas, until I saw how much extra that was going to cost haha. I very nearly booked Canada before deciding it wasn’t really a short escape destination but rather one I was wanting to spend longer in.

Thus, I started looking closer to home, though definitely not Western Australia. Initially I looked to Koh Samui, never having visited this region of Thailand, however flights were rather crap to put it mildly. Sadly, Phuket was not much better, so Thailand was ruled out.

I decided at this point to investigate another travel site, Luxury Escapes. This site gave a number of good ideas, though times weren’t compatible with when I was wanting to go. Thankfully one suggestion on their site was useful though and I booked it through an airline, albeit not as good a deal.

I’m heading off in 8 days to the Grand Mirage resort for six days. Beauty is the flights are relatively short at just over three hours, no waiting in airports as I would have needed to do with all other destinations. I’ve booked into the spa for the day after I arrive, see how I go. Just going to relax and enjoy myself, not focus on photographing all and sundry as I normally do. Enjoy nice food, relax on the beach and even a dunk in the pool to recover from the heat. Bring it on.
